I want to take Meggie’s back to it’s roots (as much as I can) and start stocking lovely local, handmade products again. I know how it feels as a small business to put yourself out there… scary right? Sometimes it’s just about finding another small, independent business to work with to help make those first important steps which are right for you and your brand!
When I first opened Meggie’s, my passion was all about supporting small, independent makers and designers – if you were based in The Cotswolds making a cool product, even better! As my little shop grew, I had to put my financially savvy hat on, start stocking larger brands and in the process I made a few mistakes, stocking products which didn’t feel very ‘me’. Finding new and exciting, smaller brands to shout out about is what I love most about this indie shop life so should I have to compromise on that?
Something I trialled in 2018 but would love to expand on this year, giving you (independent brands, makers and designers) the opportunity to stock your products at Meggie’s using my new ‘rental’ scheme.
Rent: Depending on the size of the space you would like to rent (I have 3 ‘gift & lifestyle’ shelves available, 3 ‘Mini Meggie’s’ (children’s) shelves available and potential for rail space, a small table and/or wall space depending on products and timing) I will charge an affordable weekly/monthly rental fee. *Prices start from £15pw + commission (excluding vat)
The products renting the space still need to be in-keeping with Meggie’s style and brand ethos. All products applying will be careful considered – Each month I will put together a panel of local and loyal customers to ask their opinion on what products they would like to see at Meggie’s. Being able to sell at Meggie’s will be based on availability, product style and compatibility with other current wholesale stock.
My role: Full care of your stock will be taken whilst at Meggie’s – I will gain all relevant product knowledge to best sell your products as well as promoting your brand in store, online and via social media – Meggie’s has a growing following on social media of 11.7k (Instagram). There will be clear signage that products sold in this rental ‘section’ of the shop are local, handmade and your personal branding will be displayed fairly.
I will also provide you with monthly stock takes, sales figures and regular updates on how stock is selling etc. Monthly paperwork will be provided as stock is paid for.
Your Role: A contract will need to be signed, with all relevant information, bank details etc. If stock is selling well then it is down to the seller to keep well stocked shelves, preferably with display units if needed/possible.
To Apply: While I work on an application form – Please send an email too email@example.com including a description of you and your brand, your products and why you feel Meggie’s is right for you. Please attach photos of products and a wholesale price list.
I would kindly ask that you don’t turn up at the shop with stock to show me at this point. If your application is successful then the next step will be meeting and seeing your products in person if possible.
I look forward to seeing what gorgeous products you guys come to me with! I hope you’re as excited as I am.
