To keep my #FridayFive blogging momentum going I have decided to incorporate a new mini feature within this series of blogs which will include my 5 favourite ‘Things I’ve been Loving’ in the month – from products in the shop, Instagram pages, places I’ve been or things I’ve been buying… literally anything!
So here are the 5 Things I’ve been Loving in April – Hope you enjoy!
The first #PlantPopUp at Meggie’s – I was so thrilled with how the first #PlantPopUp with FOLIA Planting went, thank you! It was so well recieved by all of you on social media and more importantly, I had lots of visitors over the first weekend who came to specifically buy gorgeous greenery. That’s what it’s all about!
The next #PlantPopUp is next weekend, from Friday 4th May – Tuesday 8th May (over bank holiday Monday too) and then ever first weekend of the month in future too.
The Defiant Ones, Netflix– I am actually envious of anyone who hasn’t watched this series on Netflix yet… it is AMAZING! Maybe the best series we’ve watched (and we watch a lot!) It’s just 4 episodes long (I guarantee you do all 4 in one hit), following the lives of Dr Dre and Jimmy Iovine, right from the early N.W.A days to how the pair started Beats and sold it for something crazy like, $3.2 billion!! There is SO much story behind it all though – I hadn’t even heard of Jimmy Iovine before, but what a legend! You don’t need to be into Hip Hop to enjoy this, but I bet you secretly are or certainly will be a Dr.Dre fan afterwards. The interviews are insane; Snoop Dogg, Eminem, Ice Cube, Gwen Stefani. It’s all very ‘real’, there’s lots of great never seen before footage and it’s just really well made, directed, produced, edited… I can go on. Please watch it immediately.
Queer Eye, Netflix – Another Netflix recommendation, sorry but I just couldn’t decide which one I’ve loved more this month (I promise this blog feature won’t turn into a ‘5 Things I’ve been Loving on Netflix’) I think I was a little late to the Queer Eye party but man, I’m happy I turned up!! It is that good. Incase you haven’t heard the hype yet, Queer Eye is the revamped version of ‘Queer Eye for the Straight Guy’, a US male make-over show – it’s SO feel good, SO life affirming, SO much fun, just damn good TV. You’ll laugh, you’ll cry & you’ll want to be best friends with the Fab 5. If you’re not following the Fab 5 on Instagram too, look them up, Jonathan and Tan are the cutest!
At home Yoga – Yoga would always be my first choice of exercise but since having the shop in Stow, I haven’t been able to find a class locally that I enjoy as much as the Hot Yoga classes I used to attend at Ella & Fleur in Cheltenham… excuses excuses! But seriously, I just wasn’t get there on time, was having to pass my house to go and I don’t really like working out too late in the evening; if I go I need to go straight from work otherwise I never make it there. So, I decided to try out some at home yoga on various different apps until I came across Yoga With Adriene on YouTube and I’m totally hooked – You genuinely feel like you’re in one of Adriene’s classes which I love. I’ve been practising most mornings or evenings and been really looking forward to it – last week I even started my days off with a quick tutorial outside in the sunshine which was just the dream!
Jess Sharp – I have literally double tapped every.single.quote she has posted on Instagram since I started following her this month. Jess is an illustrator from Manchester using her talent to share positive quotes about mental health. Although a topic which so many people find so ugly, Jess’s words are so so beautifully written and being such a talented illustrator her whole grid is very aesthetically pleasing too, all in pretty pastels. Go give her a follow @jessrachelsharp
